You Define The Season

Happy November! “Now” is the season of getting ready for the holidays and the end of the year. Everything centers around these activities. Life is put on hold, workouts are delayed, and relaxation is something in the far-off future, sometime in… January, right?

In this post, we are going to slow this down and you are getting clear about how YOU define what your season is, now, and every month of the year. With this, you will get more joy out of a season that was originally intended to be full of it!

Beware of The Holiday Trap

Lately, I’ve noticed that we begin to prepare for holidays earlier and earlier. I saw people putting up Halloween decorations at the end of August this year and Christmas lights in September. I don’t actually know where November and the month of thankfulness go…they sort of disappear in between.

While this advance preparation is efficient and allegedly allows people to be prepared for the holidays and have more relaxation time so they can enjoy it, it sometimes has the opposite effect.

Instead, with this advance prep, we end up having even more running around to do and we are burned out by the time the holidays get here.

So a season of celebration and festivities becomes consumerism, filled with anxiety to get to the stores and get the shopping and everything else done.

(I know many people who decorate early and fully enjoy the season and are present with it. This isn’t a judgment of when you decorate, it’s simply a call to being present with how you interface with it.)

You Define The Season

Here’s the thing. Regardless of what is going on around you, and what everyone else is doing, YOU get to define how you relate to what is happening.

When you take back the reins and give yourself permission to define your experience, it no longer controls you.

AND when you step into your 5-dimensional self and create your own season you also shine the light on other people's lives and impact how they experience this time of year. Be a role model if you will. Be the one that creates a better experience for everyone.

Another positive side effect of defining your season is that energy is returned to you because you focus on the things that bring you joy, peace, and happiness. You focus on what really matters.

Here are a few ideas on how you could define your season:

  • This is my season of Creativity.

  • This is my Season of Fun.

  • This is my Season of Doing Absolutely nothing at all.

  • This is my season of Peace

  • This is my season of Slowing down.

  • This is my season of Celebrating my year and closing it out with creating.

  • This is my season of Giving Back.

Your Holiday Season Challenge:

  1. Create your own personal season statement.

  2. Post this statement and share it with your family and friends.

  3. When you feel stressed or obligated to do something, read this statement back and then make your decision: Do you go to that extra holiday party or do you buy your FedEx guy that gift?
