How to Switch on Your Creator Mode - Week #22 of The Awakening Joureny

Sometimes the world feels unstable. Especially now with what is going on in Ukraine. It’s like a metaphorical tsunami is rolling through and it can feel overwhelming. This can lead to feelings of helplessness, hopelessness and overall powerlessness.

What do we do in these situations? How can we anchor in and not only not give up but actually create from a place of empowerment?

Your Anchor - Your Stake

Your stake is an incredibly important part of your awakening journey.

It is the very handle for your metaphorical container we’ve been talking about. It’s what you are anchored to.

You always have a stake, whether you are conscious of it or not.

Imagine an actual stake in the ground. It is solid & rooted. You are tethered to it with a rope.

Although I imagine my stake to be quite large & solid, this is a photo of the one I keep on my desk to remind me to be conscious of & aligned with my stake.

What is it used for?

Your stake is used to carry the metaphorical basket, your container, the thing that holds all of the stuff of your relationships. When you are on point/aligned with your leader within, you are creating from and recovering to your stake.

How do I make a stake?

From your leader within. Get grounded. Get in creative mode or co-creative mode with your co-leader.

Breathe. Get in the geography. Stand up, put your fists on your hips.

Ask yourself some fun creative questions (this doesn’t have to be so heavy!)

Like “What really wants to happen here?”  or

Listen to the answer. Your Stake should both ground you & activate you.

My partner and I used to spend our time in conflict, connection and only then move to creation mode & our stakes would flow effortlessly.

Examples of Stake:

Empower & Connect.

Decide & Execute.

Fiercely Call Out Bullshit.

Your stake doesn’t have to look like the above. But it should be short and on point.

You need to feel it.

Recover to your Stake

No matter what happens, a tsunami could come, & you would remain stable & on point because you are tethered to this stake.

One example of creating from my stake and recovering to: I was going to a meeting that was quite charged. I was concerned & spent the 30 min car ride creating a stake.

We were trying to finish up a project that was quite delayed. Someone whom I admired made misogynistic comments in the meeting about another female party who wasn’t present.

I had a choice to be in reaction to, taken over by a “tsunami of emotions” OR I could ask myself “what is my stake”. I quickly recovered and stated my stake: Decide (we are getting this done no matter what) & Execute.

It doesn’t matter that there was a part of me that wanted to comment on the unfair way he was talking about someone else who I respected. And just to be clear, the magic of stake is that I didn’t have to say anything.

After the meeting, the speaker was apologetic and owned his impact almost sheepishly.

Another example - A while ago my partner and I were coaching a group of teens when their teacher approached us during an exercise & made some suggestions that the kids could do. I got excited & was “yes, anding”…her suggestions because it sounded great at that moment.

At the break, my partner pulled me aside and I asked her what she thought of these ideas. With neutral energy, she said, “Darla, what is our stake?”

It took me only 3 seconds to repeat our stake for the teen program: Awaken Leader Within. The ideas the teacher brought had nothing to do with awakening their leader within. At that moment, I recovered to our stake.

It doesn’t matter that shiny objects sound good. The important question is does it align with your stake?

Create from your Stake

Connection. Energy. Alignment.

Once you are clear on what wants to be created by having a clear and concise stake, only then should you begin to develop an idea, start to work with your client, or take on a creative project.

This Week’s Practice

Practice making & claiming a stake in your next 2 big conversations.

Next, we will talk about Leader within, in the meanwhile remember the present moment is where your best life happens.

With love, presence and gratitude,

Darla
